Florence Firestone Community Service Center*

los angeles, ca
2010

A 1970’s L.A. County Community Senior Services Center was remodeled and expanded for improved efficiency and modernization. The 17,000 s.f. building was reconfigured to place the high public use office of the registrar recorder on the first level and quieter administrative functions on the second level. The building contains lobby/reception, multi-purpose room, kitchen, 2 conference rooms, computer training, field offices for county supervisors, offices for consumer affairs, community senior services and community groups. A single story addition provides space for a senior’s exercise room and lounge. Photos also show the new entry and brightly colored steel canopy allowing direct access from the parking lot into the building.

Sustainability features included capturing rain water, drought tolerant landscaping, energy efficient lighting, low water use plumbing fixtures and interior materials with recycled content.
