Haven Office & Retail Complex

ontario, ca
1993-1994

The site was an irregular shaped parcel sandwiched between a freeway and existing development. We designed a collection of buildings that provided 9,000 square feet of retail space on the ground and mezzanine levels and 12,000 s.f. of office space on a second level. The building placement responded to many factors including site configuration, setbacks, sun exposure, and parking requirements. A circulation element threads through the project connecting the buildings and a courtyard. This piece adds liveliness and invites building users to move outside and enjoy the exterior spaces. The project included elements scaled to the freeway and the pedestrian environment. Plans were prepared and approved for this project. However, due to a downturn in the economy in the mid 90’s the project did not proceed into construction.
